Great service from the initial phone call, through the procedure, and the aftercare! I went in with a considerable amount of dentist-anxiety, but Dr. Ollason was incredible...just the right touch to do the extraction gently and without the need for sedation. I think I have finally found "my dentist"!

The Dental Crown Treatment Process

A small layer of enamel is removed from the treated tooth in order to make room for the crown.

Feeling Nervous About Treatment? Sedation Can Keep You Comfortable

There is minimal pain associated with the dental crown procedure, and we can usually complete it using just local anesthesia. However, we understand that localized numbing may not be enough to guarantee your comfort if you have dental anxiety, tooth or gum sensitivity, or are receiving a crown as part of a more complex treatment, like a root canal. This is why we make sedation available to all our patients.

Choosing sedation will allow you to deeply relax during your treatment and help the time pass much more easily. To learn more about your options for sedation during dental crown treatment or any other procedure, send us a message online or call our Albuquerque practice at:

Dental Crown Timeline

Patients who receive a traditional crown for a damaged tooth at our office can expect several simple steps:
The dental crown process isn't especially uncomfortable, but calming sedation is available to you if you choose.
The dental crown process isn't especially uncomfortable, but calming sedation is available to you if you choose.

Examination

Dr. Ollason will examine your teeth in order to develop the best solution to improve your dental health. He can identify any issues and communicate the best plan of action to restore your smile.

Repair

Before he can place a temporary crown or permanent crown, our dentist will treat any teeth that need attention.

For example, you may need decayed portions removed or, in more severe cases, require a root canal before proceeding.

Digital Scan

Using advanced dental tools, our dentist will take digital impressions of your tooth and surrounding teeth to ensure your dental crown fits perfectly in your smile. This allows you to skip the mess of traditional impression material.

Temporary Crown

If your crown is being made on-site, your impressions will be sent to our design system. If you choose a traditional crown, they will be sent to a trusted local dental lab that can craft your permanent crown in just a few days.

The lab technicians can customize the shade of your crown so it matches your natural teeth. In the meantime, Dr. Ollason will place a temporary crown over your tooth while your custom permanent restoration is being crafted.

Permanent Crown

Before securing your permanent dental crown in place, any necessary final adjustments will be made so that you can enjoy a perfect fit.

By the end of your appointment, your new crown should feel, function, and appear just like your surrounding teeth.
